Under general supervision, the Cook's primary objective is preparing food items to ensure high quality and quantity standards to meet the residents' needs for the Residential Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Health Center Dining Room. The Cook handles food following sanitary standards and recognized food preparation standards. As a representative and team member of dining services, this position is expected to present oneself in a manner that reflects professionalism and ensures resident satisfaction in the dining department.Full-Time Schedule: (No more late nights!)Weekends: 4:00 AM - 12:30 PMTuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays: 10:15 AM - 6:30 PMMust have open availability for weekends and holidays. This position will also help fill in for lunch shifts as needed.Pay: $19.5 - $22.25, DOEA day in the life might include:* Preparing food, including but not limited to: washing, trimming, cutting, portioning, measuring, mixing, and panning;* Cooking food including: baking, broiling, frying, steaming, braising, boiling, and pressure cooking;* Preparing food for booked catering events;* Providing meals that are properly cooked, tasty, and attractive meeting high standards for quality and presentation and ensuring dietary needs are met;* Taking stock to ensure appropriate quality and quantity for meal preparation;* Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen;To be successful in the role, you would have:* Experience cooking in a healthcare setting (required)* Scratch cooking experience (required)* Fine dining and/or Country Club cooking experience (preferred)* Culinary education (preferred)What's in it for you!As the largest nonprofit owner/operator of senior living communities in California and one of the largest in the country, we are more than just a place to work.
