Donor Center Technician I

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, including FDA, OSHA, and GMP, to uphold the highest operational standards.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to ensure a positive donor experience aligned with our company culture.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area, ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available.
  • Manage and maintain Donor Center equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Monitor donor well-being, prioritizing safety, comfort, and quality plasma collection.
  • Ensure donor confidentiality in accordance with company policies.
  • Keep accurate and comprehensive records as per company protocols.
  • Address machine alarms/alerts effectively and perform quality checks on equipment routinely.
  • Handle biohazardous waste properly and clean any spills as required.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support center operations.

Donor Eligibility Duties:

  • Confirm donor eligibility according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct vitals evaluation and perform finger sticks for testing.
  • Register new donors following company procedures.

Plasma Collection Tasks:

  • Prepare all necessary equipment for venipuncture and plasmapheresis in accordance with protocols.
  • Safely disconnect donors post-collection.
  • Maintain appropriate donor ratios to prioritize safety and product quality.
  • Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, responding to alarms, and documenting any incidents.

Product Processing Responsibilities:

  • Ensure sterile collection and storage of plasma products and samples as per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Handle both tested and untested products appropriately.
  • Organize samples within storage freezers and prepare products for shipment, following federal regulations.
  • Monitor temperature conditions of refrigeration systems; report any malfunctions promptly.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Previous customer service or clerical experience (3 months preferred).
  • Specific certification or licensing as required by state laws.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills are necessary.
  • Able to follow detailed instructions and perform basic math calculations.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Be available to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Punctuality and attendance are crucial.

Physical Requirements:

  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and pull up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel as needed.
  • Work with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
  • Comfortable working in cold environments, including handling dry ice.
  • Perform fine motor skills necessary for tasks such as blood collection.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $16.95 - $22.60 - $28.25, determined by qualifications and experience.
