Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking a Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Manager on behalf of our client, a full-service construction management and general contracting company specializing in design-build, general contracting, and constructionmanagement across commercial, education, energy, and federal markets. This role is critical in driving digital innovation, improving coordination, and enhancing project efficiency through advanced construction technologies. The VDC Manager will lead companywide VDC strategy, oversee BIM-driven workflows, and collaborate with field and project teams to ensure excellence in execution and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain companywide VDC standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across all projects.
  • Provide strategic oversight of VDC initiatives, aligning digital construction workflows with operational and field execution goals.
  • Lead BIM clash detection processes using Autodesk Navisworks and coordinate with subcontractors to resolve conflicts; generate and distribute clash detection reports.
  • Oversee VDC deliverables from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Manage creation and maintenance of intelligent 3D models, shop drawings, and fabrication-level details to support prefabrication and field installation.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, field leadership, and trade partners to resolve sequencing issues, constructability challenges, and model-based coordination needs.
  • Facilitate virtual coordination meetings with clients, design teams, internal stakeholders, and subcontractors to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
  • Integrate VDC insights into construction planning, logistics, scheduling, and field execution.
  • Evaluate emerging construction technologies, tools, and workflows; make recommendations for adoption and companywide integration.
  • Support training, onboarding, and development of project teams in VDC standards and best practices.
Requirements Include: Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or an AEC Technology-related field.
Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience managing VDC workflows for complex, multi-phase commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Experience working closely with construction operations, field teams, and subcontractors.
Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD MEP.
  • Experience with Evolve Electrical, Synchro, Solibri, Tekla, or similar modeling tools (highly preferred).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and coordination abilities with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to run and lead virtual coordination meetings effectively.
Certifications:
  • BIM/VDC-related certifications are a plus but not required.
Knowledge:
  • Deep understanding of construction means and methods, field sequencing, and MEP/Structural systems.
  • Strong knowledge of BIM workflows, clash detection, model coordination, and prefabrication processes.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies in the VDC/BIM space.
