Position: Marketing and Media Coordinator

Distinguishing Characteristics:

Incumbents work with high-level management employees and consequently, the employees in this classification are privy to decisions of the Kern County Hospital Authority management affecting employer-employee relations. This position is distinguished from other administrative positions by its specialized activities requiring in-depth knowledge and experience in the area of assignment.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and implements marketing strategies to promote services and campaigns. Conducts market research to identify target audiences and create customer profiles.
  • Plans and executes advertising and promotional campaigns across various channels, including print, digital, social media, and traditional media. Coordinates with creative teams and management to develop marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, advertisements, and online content.
  • Collaborates with management on response to media inquiries, press releases, and announcements.
  • Identifies appropriate media outlets (TV, radio, websites, etc.) for advertising. Monitors and analyzes media performance and provide recommendations for optimizing media placements.
  • Manages digital marketing efforts, including website content updates, search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, email marketing campaigns, and online advertising. Tracks and analyzes digital marketing metrics to measure campaign effectiveness.
  • Creates engaging and persuasive marketing content, including copywriting for advertisements, social media posts, blogs, newsletters, and website content. Ensures content aligns with brand guidelines and target audience preferences.
  • Develops and implements social media strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement. Monitors social media platforms, respond to comments and inquiries, and analyze social media analytics to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Organizes and coordinates marketing events, such as trade shows, conferences, product launches, and community outreach programs. Manage logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, promotional materials, and post-event evaluations.
  • Conducts market research to identify consumer trends, competitor analysis, and industry insights. Uses data analytics and research findings to make informed marketing decisions and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Collaborates with internal teams on marketing efforts for programs and services offered.
  • Prepares regular reports on marketing and media activities, including campaign performance, website analytics, social media metrics, and ROI analysis. Uses data-driven insights to measure the effectiveness of marketing strategies and recommend improvements
Employment Standards:
  • Associate's degree in marketing or communications. Bachelor's degree preferred.
AND
  • Minimum of 2 years proven working experience in marketing, graphic design or advertising.
  • Solid experience in social media, display advertising, email and marketing data base campaigns.
Knowledge of:
  • Working knowledge of social media, advertising and marketing campaigns
  • Good computer skills for generating reports, viewing marketing metrics, extracting data and sharing this information with other team members in project updates. Working knowledge of basic computer applications, programs and features is a must with experience in web page development or graphic design being very helpful.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS development and constraints
  • Understanding of media outlet relationships
Ability to:
  • Good computer skills for generating reports, viewing marketing metrics, extracting data and sharing this information with other team members in project updates. Working knowledge of basic computer applications, programs and features is a must with experience in web page development or graphic design being very helpful.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate clearly within various departments, all levels of management and staff, contractors and vendors.
  • Strong organizational, time-management and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a collaborative and flexible approach.
  • Comfortable in acting as a spokesperson; skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews as needed.

Supplemental:

Dependent upon assignment, applicants may be required to pass an extensive background investigation, and be fingerprinted. Disqualification for felony, misdemeanor, and traffic offenses will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

All Kern Medical employees are designated "Disaster Service Workers" through state and local laws (CA Government Code Sec. 3100-3109 and Ordinance Code Title 2 - Administration, Ch. 2.66 Emergency Services.) As Disaster Service Workers, all county employees are expected to remain at work, or to report for work as soon as practicable following a significant emergency or disaster.

If position responsibilities require driving a personal vehicle, then possession of a current valid California Driver's License and adherence to the Kern County Hospital Authority Vehicle Use and Driving Standard Policy (ENG-EC-119) is required.

If position responsibilities require driving a vehicle owned, leased or rented by Kern Medical, then possession of a current valid California Driver's license, a signed authorization for Release of Drivers Record Information and adherence to the Kern County Hospital Authority Vehicle Use and Driving Standard Policy (ENG-EC-119) is required.
