GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Loss Prevention Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the safety and security of our store environment by preventing theft and fraud. You will greet and engage every customer, establishing a friendly and inviting atmosphere while maintaining vigilance against theft. Your responsibilities will include monitoring store entrances, exits, and the sales floor, alongside adhering to loss prevention directives aimed at minimizing operational shortage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment:

  • Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors in all tasks while assisting store leadership in maintaining a secure space for associates and customers.
  • Ensure a visible presence in the store with friendly greetings and proactive monitoring for safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clutter-free environment to guarantee safe egress to emergency exits.

Developing Great Teams & Partnerships:

  • Deliver excellent customer service through warm greetings, eye contact, and helpful interactions.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy.
  • Exhibit professionalism and support recognized company programs.
  • Engage with internal and external partners through meetings and educational opportunities.
  • Take on additional duties to support loss prevention initiatives as needed.

Mitigating Theft & Fraud:

  • Monitor store and sales floor areas for potential theft by identifying suspicious behaviors.
  • Document indicators of theft and communicate insights to store and loss prevention leadership.
  • Follow company guidelines for responding to incidents of theft.
  • Execute best practices to maximize productivity and minimize operational inefficiencies.

Minimizing Operational Shortage:

  • Promote awareness and education around effective processes for reducing operational shortages among store associates.
  • Oversee and validate checkout processes to ensure proper procedures are being followed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; AA degree preferred.
  • One year of retail supervisory experience or similar training preferred.
  • A year of loss prevention or security training preferred, with an active Security Guard License as a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven capability in building and maintaining relationships with store teams.
  • Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Compliance with applicable laws and regulations for security positions is mandatory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

  • Consistent punctuality and attendance are essential.
  • Capacity to spend up to 100% of work time standing and moving throughout the store.
  • Able to lift and carry objects weighing over 25 lbs. as necessary.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, or crouch as required by business needs.
