POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, and gaseous materials for such purposes as quality and process control.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sets up, adjusts, and operates laboratory equipment and instruments. Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment. Calibrates laboratory instruments. Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas. Prepares and makes samples for testing.
• Tests materials used in processes. Tests materials for presence and content of elements or substances. Tests samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
• Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used. Follows written procedures, instructions, graphs, and charts.
• Performs environmental sample analysis such as TCLP and metals and pH for water samples. Provides instructions to or adds chemical or raw materials to process solutions and water batches and establishes formulation required to meet specifications.
• Complies with all environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping programs.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of college math and chemistry courses
• 2 - 3 years equivalent experience in a Laboratory
