Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Outside Industrial Sales Representative for a confidential, growth-oriented industrial distribution client. This is a full-time, direct-hire, field-based role with significant travel. The position is home-based when not traveling, with primary territories across the Southeast (including Tennessee and surrounding states), with additional regional territories to be confirmed.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced sales professional to lead revenue growth acrossa multi-state territory. In this relationship-driven role, the Outside Sales Representative will engage directly with engineers, procurement teams, and operational leaders to deliver tailored component and system solutions to complex manufacturing and industrial challenges.
The right candidate will bring proven success in territory-based sales, particularly within the OEM or industrial sector, and a consultative approach to uncovering and fulfilling client needs. This role involves substantial field work and travel, and offers the autonomy to manage a strategic book of business with high impact. Candidates with experience in industrial equipment, hydraulics, or component-based systems are especially encouraged to apply.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Territory Sales & Business Development
- Proactively identify and convert new business opportunities across a multi-state territory.
- Develop, manage, and grow a robust sales pipeline through consistent outreach, referrals, and in-person visits.
- Represent company capabilities to technical and purchasing audiences with clarity and solution-oriented proposals.
- Conduct product presentations, site visits, and customer consultations to determine needs and close deals.
Account Management & Client Retention - Maintain and deepen relationships with existing clients through regular engagement and needs assessments.
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling that align with the client's operations and growth plans.
- Serve as the main point of contact for accounts, ensuring a consistent, positive experience from sale to delivery.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting - Partner with internal departments including operations, finance, and marketing to ensure smooth project execution.
- Track sales performance, monitor market trends, and provide regular reports on pipeline and revenue status.
- Maintain accurate records in CRM systems and contribute to continuous sales process improvements.
Sales Goals & Objectives - Drive $1.5M-$3M in new sales within the first two years.
- Increase market penetration by identifying and capturing high-value business opportunities.
- Deliver long-term value to the customer base through consultative selling and technical knowledge transfer.
QUALIFICATIONS: - 5-7 years of outside sales experience, preferably within industrial, OEM, or manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, hose and fitting products, or related mechanical components strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a regional or multi-state territory.
- Confident communicator with the ability to present technical solutions to a range of stakeholders.
- Technologically fluent; proficient with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, SharePoint).
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, or marketing preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required
WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL: - Up to 80% travel required throughout the assigned territory, including regular site visits and customer engagements.
- Work environments include manufacturing facilities, offices, and home-based administrative work.
- Travel and client site visits may require standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs); PPE may be required on certain sites.
- A secure, professional home office setup is expected for virtual coordination and reporting.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS This full-time opportunity offers a competitive total compensation range of $120,000 to $140,000, depending on experience and the potential for customer portfolio transition. Compensation includes a base salary, commission, and bonus structure.
