Entry-Level Regional Sales Engineer Location: Regionally Based

Overview

Tektronix is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Regional Sales Engineer to join our North America Sales team. This role is designed for a recent graduate orearly-career engineer who wants to develop deep technical expertise in electrical test and measurement instrumentation while preparing for a career in technical sales.

To ensure success in this role, the selected candidate will first spend 9-12 months in the Technical Support Center (TSC), where they will gain hands-on experience with Tektronix and Keithley products, customer applications, and troubleshooting techniques. After completing this immersive training, the individual will relocate into a sales region. Once in the region they will transition into a customer-facing Regional Sales Engineer position, where they will drive sales growth and support key accounts.

Program Structure & Role Progression

Phase 1: Technical Support Training (9-12 months, based in Beaverton, OR)

  • Work as an Applications Engineer in the Technical Support Center (TSC)
  • Develop expertise in oscilloscopes, signal generators, source measure units, parameter analyzers, and other test and measurement instruments
  • Provide pre- and post-sales technical support to engineers at leading technology companies
  • Assist customers in solving complex test challenges, troubleshooting equipment issues, and optimizing measurement setups
  • Collaborate with Field Application Engineers (FAEs), Sales Teams, and Product Engineering Teams to deliver effective solutions
  • Create technical content, such as application notes, training videos, and knowledge base articles
  • Gain hands-on experience with customer use cases, preparing for the transition into a sales-focused role
Phase 2: Regional Sales Engineer (Field-Based Role - Relocating to a sales region)
  • Apply technical expertise to drive customer success and revenue growth
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them select the right solutions for their applications
  • Work closely with Account Managers and FAEs to develop and execute strategic sales plans
  • Conduct product demonstrations, proof-of-concept trials, and technical discovery discussions
  • Identify and develop new sales opportunities within assigned accounts and regions
  • Participate in customer visits, trade shows, and industry events
  • Continue to leverage relationships with internal teams, including TSC, Marketing, and Product Line teams, to optimize customer support
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Understanding and experience with test and measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, DMMs, SMUs, etc.)
  • Hands-on lab experience in R&D, university projects, or internships involving signal-oriented test and measurement
  • Programming experience with at least one high-level language (Python, C#, LabVIEW, etc.), particularly for instrument control and automation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders
  • Passion for customer engagement and problem-solving
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region after the training phase
