Director of Engineering - Fiber (FTTH), OSP

Location: Remote / Nationwide (U.S.)

As Director of Engineering you will own technical strategy, process excellence, and team performance for multi-state FTTH and outside-plant programs-directly impacting how millions of people connect every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and people leadership for multi-disciplinary engineering teams producing FTTH, metro, and long-haul fiber designs
• Convert program goals into actionable scope, schedules, capacity models, and margin targets
• Standardize workflows and KPIs-productivity, first-pass yield, SLA adherence-across regions
• Partner with construction, permitting, and customer success teams to remove roadblocks and keep projects on track
• Drive continuous improvement by introducing automation, GIS optimization, and other process enhancements that reduce rework
• Serve as senior engineering voice with clients, agencies, and utilities-owning status reports, technical escalations, and bid inputs
• Recruit, mentor, and retain managers, team leads, and high-potential engineers-building a pipeline of future leaders
• Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards for outside-plant design

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive fiber network engineering experience within telecom, utility, or EPC environments
• 5+ years leading multi-site engineering teams (managing managers)
• Expert knowledge of FTTH and OSP best practices (make-ready, pole & conduit routing, permitting workflows, GIS-based design)
• Proven success managing dashboards, KPIs, and budgets in a rapid-growth setting
• Proficiency with modern GIS, CAD, or workflow/automation platforms
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

Preferred Extras

• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
• Experience supporting hyperscale data-center interconnect or federal broadband funding programs
• Background recruiting and managing geographically distributed or outsourced engineering resources
