Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
  • Facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
  • Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances.
  • Determining the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
  • Preventing the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband.

Salary and Incentives

As a newly appointed CBPO, you may receive up to a $15,000 incentive per year with a three or four-year service contract, depending on your duty location. Your annual base salary will range from $40,332 to $109,952, with additional opportunities for overtime compensation up to $45,000.

To Qualify for the GS-5 Grade Level, You Must Have:

  • A minimum of three years of full-time general work experience that showcases your ability to interact with people and to learn.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • A combination of experience and education may also qualify you.

For the GS-7 Grade Level:

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level.
  • A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement, or one full year of graduate-level education.
  • A combination of specialized experience and graduate education may qualify you.

Requirements:

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • You must meet age restrictions related to law enforcement retirement provisions.
  • Formal training will include a two-week paid orientation and a 101-day training program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA.
