Job Title: Direct Care StaffLocation: Bakersfield, CA 93306Employment Type: Full-Time/Temp-to-HirePay: $17 -$19 per hour (DOE) plus "Night Shift Differential"Position OverviewLegacy Staffing is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Care Staff on behalf of our client, a residential program serving individuals with mental health conditions. This role is essential for providing care, supervision, and support to residents, helping them develop life skills and maintain a safe, structured environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with mentally ill populations and a strong commitment to client well-being.Key ResponsibilitiesCare & Supervision:Provide on-site monitoring and assistance to residentsSupport individualized service plans and daily schedulesSupervise medication administration per physician instructionsConduct room checks and light housekeepingEnsure compliance with house rules and provide crisis intervention when neededGroup Activities:Assist with organizing and supervising recreational, social, and cultural activitiesInstruction: Model and teach daily living skills such as personal care, budgeting, shopping, and maintaining an orderly home environmentTransportation:Provide transportation for group outingsMeetings & Reporting:Participate in staff meetings and training sessionsMaintain client confidentiality and report unusual situations promptlyQualifications & RequirementsMinimum 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalentTwo years of experience providing services to mentally ill or similar populations preferredValid California driver's license, reliable vehicle, and clean driving recordAbility to pass health screening, TB test, and criminal background check including a Live ScanStrong communication skills and personal qualities of warmth, responsibility, and respectASL proficiency preferred but not requiredShifts AvailableMorning & Day Shift Rotation: 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM/3:30 PM - 11:30 PM ($17-$18.50)Night Shift: 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM ($18-$19)If you are passionate about supporting individuals with mental health needs and creating a positive environment, we encourage you to apply.
