Essential duties and responsibilities include operating equipment and materials handling equipment such as shell cut off saws, pencil grinders, die grinders, 4" grinders, 7" grinders, wet grinders, manway and other hole saws, air movers, floor jacks, mechanical electric and pneumatic hoists, drill press, material saw, material slitter, tank turners, forklifts, air monitors, emergency eyewash, collar and manway installation jigs, respirators, dotco saws, diatrim saws, and vacuum pump. Performs secondary bonding procedures in accordance with parts being constructed by the work crew, typically an assembly operator and an assembly fabricator. Uses power tools and equipment to assemble and repair fiberglass tanks, sumps, and parts. Wets out materials and rolls air bubbles out during layup, cuts materials using template, straight edge, controls inventory and storage of materials, rolls and sheet per fiberglass operation build schedule requirements, assists in preparing parts, products, and accessories for shipment, visually inspects, takes measurements and other process checks and notifies appropriate personnel of quality issues, assists in the matching and layout of shells per specifications, performs layouts, marks, stencils and labels product per specification, assists in the lay out, fabrication and assembly of tanks, sumps, and products from shop drawings, checks, cleans, performs minor maintenance on tools and equipment to insure efficiencies, cleans rollers and tools, operates material handling equipment as needed, participates in the safety and good housekeeping within the plant.
Physical demands and work environment include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, talking, hearing, and smelling, pushing, pulling, and reaching with some repetitive motions. The employee must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds more frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. While performing the duties of this job in the plant the employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, work at platform elevations, contend with fumes and/or airborne particles and dust proper respiratory and vision PPE, contend with outside weather conditions.
Qualifications include a high school diploma and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Working in a high noise area. Pay range: $23.48 - $28.31/hr.
