Job Summary

DEFINITION:
Under close supervision, to assist staff of Child Development Programs in the performance of their duties related to Child Development Programs, to ensure the health and safety needs of the children are met, and to do other job-related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
The duties of persons assigned to this class are normally associated directly with student instruction or supervision or materials related to instruction in designated programs, as well as to supporting the health and safety of the children. This is a specially funded job classification.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Based upon specific instruction: assists Child Development Teacher, Lead Teacher, Associate Teacher, or other staff personnel in supervising students and supporting their health and safety. This includes: assembling and cleaning instructional media; preparing instructional materials; assisting in maintaining an orderly learning environment; assisting in classroom instruction of designated students; performing clerical duties related to the instructional program; operating technological equipment; maintaining records as required by the supervisor and program guidelines; assists with toilet training and related health and safety needs of children, including supporting with toilet use reminders, assisting in changing clothing, and changing diapers of children; assists other staff in activities related to the instructional program, student activities, or the general health and safety of the children.

Requirements / Qualifications

• CPR/First Aid Certification (CPR/First Aid Certification)
• Other (Holds a current Child Development Assistant Permit in California)
• Proof of HS Graduation

Comments and Other Information

Daily Work Hours: 8:00 A.M. - 2:15 P.M. (5.75 hours; hr. lunch)
(Some evenings and weekends required)
