ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN JOB OPENING

A local water/sewer district in East Bakersfield is accepting applications for a full-time Engineering Technician, working under the direction of the General Manager. Essential job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining a geographical information system (GIS), assisting water distribution and water treatment staff with well data and water operations, performing field inspections of various construction projects, plan checking, and preparing reports for the State Water Board, preparing road encroachment permit applications for local public agencies, reviewing and responding to Underground Service Alert notices.

Minimum qualifications:

Two (2) years of college in Engineering Technology or related field, or four (4) years of sub-professional engineering experience.

Possession of a valid Class C California drivers license.

Knowledge of water and sewer system infrastructure.

Knowledge of drafting techniques, terminology and equipment, including computer aided drafting.

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with the public.

Must be able to successfully complete a drug test, physical exam, and background check as part of the pre-employment screening process if offer of employment is accepted. Annual Salary $69,862 $84,918 (Monthly $5,821-$7,076) with medical, dental, and vision benefits, including participation in a pension plan. All applicants must complete a District application.
