Position Information
This is a continuous recruitment and may close at any time without notice.
Salary: Level I: $2,235.90 - $2,672.11; Level II: $2,350.24 -2,808.75; Level III: $2,784.57 - $3,327.82; Paid bi-weekly.

Examination Schedule:

  • Written Exam: Qualified candidates will be notified five days prior to the examination.


Examinations:

Written Exam (Weighted 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of planning principles and theory; applicable planning and zoning laws, ordinances and regulations; surveying; research methodologies; and, report writing techniques.

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the exam process.

This position works within various departments within the County of Kern.

Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards:

Bachelor's Degree in Planning or a related field.

OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

This examination will establish an eligible list from which an immediate appointment(s) will be made at the Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed.

Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
