The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated and eager to learn Material Handler to optimize our NuSil team, delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives.This role will be a full-time position based out of our Bakersfield, CA facility.

You will have the opportunity to execute tasks related to the receiving, handling, preparation, storage, inventory, and shipping of specialty silicone products and raw materials using a variety of tools and equipment.

The team

Avantor's NuSil team is part of our Lab and Production Services business unit. This team supports the innovation and growth objectives of major industries across the globe by helping with the integration of new technology solutions into their processes and operations.

What we're looking for

• Education: High school education or equivalent required

How you will thrive and create an impact

Process / Safety Related:

• Must operate company forklift and other material handling equipment
• May transfer chemicals from one container to another for sampling or down packaging.
• May assist in light manufacturing and QA sampling processes.
• May assist in work related to hazardous waste management.
• May be required to operate company-owned vehicle.
• May be required to drive company-owned vehicle with Class "A: Drivers' License with a Hazardous Materials endorsement between NuSil facilities.(Material Handler - Hazmat Driver (Bakersfield) position only)
• May be selected for NuSil Hazardous Material Driver's program

Inventory Related:

• Maintains accurate logs, files, databases and records of material/supply transactions and inventory levels.
• Utilizes FIFO (first in first out) rule for distribution of materials and supplies.
• Performs cycle counting and inventory control functions as required.
• Pulls and / or stage materials/supplies for use by operators, technicians and/or chemists.
• May oversee lab glassware usage, repair and replacement.

Quality Related:

• Responsible for maintaining quality within the scope of the job description.
• Verifies and ensures that materials/supplies are properly labeled and stored
• Performs data entry accurately and completely.

Receiving Related:

• May perform receiving and be responsible for generation of proper paper work for use by accounting and purchasing.
• May perform and complete disposition of PVR's (product variance reports) as well as RMA's (returned materials)
• May disposition Surplus inventory as needed.
• May participate in the facility wide recycling program consisting of cardboard , metal drums and pails and the collection and sorting of the various types of pallets needed throughout the company.

Shipping Related:

• May perform shipping and be responsible for generation of proper paper work for use by accounting and order entry.
• May be selected for DOT and IATA training.
