Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, located in Bakersfield, California, is an acute psychiatric and behavioral 90 bed facility situated on 8.8 acres.
We offer inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults needing mental/behavioral health, chemical dependency; and co-occurring disorders treatment through our medically supervised detoxification.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Simply put: HUMANS WHO CARE
Though we do need to meet some minimum requirements for the position such a High School Diploma or Equivalent, and a valid Food Handler's certification, we're really looking for people who bring their HEART to work.
If you have previous experience in the kitchen of a hospital or other large facility and/or have experience as a Dietary Aide in a mental healthcare hospital environment, then your application to this position will be immediately moved to the shortlist of candidates.
Ideally, you'll bring at least three (1) year of experience as a Dietary Aide in a healthcare or similar setting, though this experience is not necessary.
You'll showcase strong kitchen safety skills and be able to meet deadlines surrounding a very rigid serving schedule.
A high level of awareness in regards to patient dietary orders is very important to achieve desired results in this role. That said, you'll need to be able to read and comprehend our recipes and instructions regarding prepackaged products.
The perfect candidate will be able to read, convert, and adjust mathematical measurements for recipe changes and development and assist cooks and the Kitchen Manager to execute exceptional patient care.
A substantial amount of knowledge using commercial kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, and dishwashers will be of asset to this position.

You should have a current CPR certification when you apply or obtain certification prior to your start date.
If you don't have a current CPR certification, just let us know and we'll make sure you get it before you startand even cover the cost for you.
If you don't have a Food Handler's card, let us know and we'll pay for that, too.
Additionally, you'll complete a "Handle-With-Care" Physical Restraint Technique Training during your orientation so that you know how and when to engage when such an event occurs.

The Dietary Aide position pays $21.00 per hour to start and receives automatic merit increases annually.
