Summary
Performs activities to support the Extended Day Lead Aide by assisting with age-appropriate learning, youth development, and recreational activities. Also assists in the development and implementation of activities and materials to enhance the student's experiences while in the program.
Distinguishing Career Features
The position requires competency in elementary subject matter and organizing engaging activities for different age groups. In addition, this position would create and implement lesson plans.
Physical Abilities
Requires the ability to monitor and engage with students both indoors and outdoors actively. Requires near visual acuity to read and write printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speech ability for ordinary and telephonic conversation, to speak to groups of children, and to hear sound prompts from equipment. Requires the ability to move about school facilities and school-sponsored events without difficulty. Requires basic computer skills and familiarity with web browsing, Microsoft Word, and other programs/software that help facilitate projects/activities for the students.
Education and Experience
The position requires a high school diploma and the successful completion of a local LEA competency assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
Licenses and Certificates
May require a valid driver's license. First Aid/CPR certificate preferred.
Working Conditions
Work is performed indoors and outdoors with minimal health and safety considerations.
